(This post is going to be a bit long, but there were so many
great pictures that it was difficult to not choose them all!)
Jeff had a week of vacation last week so we decided to pack up the kids and head north.
Jeff had a week of vacation last week so we decided to pack up the kids and head north.
Seattle is a very easy three hour drive from Portland and we hadn't taken the
kids there to be tourists, so off we went.
We started our trip in Bremerton, WA. which is were Jeff's uncle and aunt live. We stayed the first night with them and were able to see lots of cousins and explore Bremerton a little bit.
One of the highlights of the trip for Stratton was being able to tour the USS Turner Joy. It is an old destroyer that is now docked in Bremerton. Stratton that that the ship was "awesome" and really enjoyed going up and down all of the steep ladders to see what was next.
In downtown Bremerton there has been a lot of work done to make it nice. There are several very cool fountains like the one above. The water leaps from one level to the next all the way up the stairs.
From Bremerton we took the ferry across the Puget Sound over to Seattle. Stratton could not believe that we could drive our car onto a boat! This little hour trip was another thing that Stratton loved. Plus, it was a nice sunny day so we were able to see amazing views of the city.
Cas and Presley on the deck of the Ferry.
Jeff's uncle told us that once we got off of the ferry we needed to eat at Ivar's. It is a little seafood place right on the dock. The food was really good! The seagulls around there love the french fries and if you throw one in the air they will come and catch it. I think 90% of our french fries were fed to the birds, but it was entertaining!
The family on the top of the Space Needle. The views were great because the day was sunny and not very cold. We certainly lucked out!Tons of fun things to see and eat.
This was Cascia's favorite place that we visited.
Presley, Cas and Stratton.and need to pet the horse.
One evening we met up with Brad Asay and his three cute kids for dinner. Brad use to be a missionary in Holbrook way back when! After dinner we took all six kids down to the beach. It was a lot of fun for them and it allowed the adults to talk a little bit.
Cas found this shell on the beach that night. She cleaned itup and brought it home as a souvenir.
The kids.We went on a tour of the Seattle underground in this area and thought that it was very cool. If you ever go to Seattle, this would be something unique to do!
This was a very big Totem pole in Pioneer Square.
So, the trip to Seattle was a ton of fun. We had a great time being together, seeing new things and experiencing something different. On the freeway coming home we saw this very long flat-bed semi with a very tiny dump truck strapped on it. It was a great ending to a great trip!
